What is HDMI Cable?

All modern day laptops, smart phones, LCDs, LEDs etc. are loaded with HDMI port to give you better HD audio/video experience. Basically HDMI is an interface which is used to transfer  video data as uncompressed format and digital audio in compressed and uncompressed both format from source device to your target device (Like from your laptop to the LCD). HDMI cable easily works with devices which are designed to send and receive HD signals. Now a days HDMI cable is working as 2 in 1 because it carries both audio and video transmission at the same time.

Types of HDMI Cables

There are many types of HDMI cables and each one has its own specification and usage, few of them are following:
Slandered HDMI Cable: This HDMI cable is designed for almost all those devices which are around us like LEDs, LCDs and Projectors etc. It is best to use for displaying Pictures and Videos upto 1080p resolution.

Slandered HDMI Cable with Ethernet: This HDMI cable has all the specification of Slandered HDMI Cable plus an extra data channel. This cable is used for connecting networking devices.
High Speed HDMI Cable: This HDMI cable is specifically designed for the videos having picture resolution grater than 1080p like for Ultra HD 4K TV and 3D videos.

HDMI 1.1: this version of HDMI cable is only supported DVD audio
HDMI 1.2: as compare to HDMI 1.1, HDMI 1.2 has capabilities to support one bit audio format like Cd with super audio.

HDMI1.3/1.3a: HD this HDMI has bandwidth upto 340MHz or 10.2 Gbps and it is designed to support the HD display 1080p.
HDMI 2: this HDMI is best for Ultra HD 4K TV and 3D display. This will give you the bandwidth upto 18Gbps.

NOTE when your purchasing the HDMI cable you must keep in mind what is your requirement and what type and which version of HDMI cable will full fill your need.
